Dra-mah-teek

At the risk of posting exactly the type of post I hate:

Today Yager said that he doesn’t read LiveJournals because he doesn’t like reading about the drama that goes on in people’s lives because he gets that enough when they talk to him in person. As I’ve said before, I’m inclined to agree. Sometimes it feels like LJ is only good for two things: making situations of drama worse, and posting the useless quizzes that you took because you have too much time on your hands.

Now, granted, I’m guilty of such posts myself, but I feel that this journal isn’t JUST about drama like a lot of other people’s are. I don’t let just anyone read it, and I DO have private posts, like this one, because I want my inner thoughts to come out truthfully. At times it’s useful to have feedback (that is, other people comment on various posts), but sometimes I really want to just say what’s on my mind and have that be the end of it.

I, while being one who enjoys drama on TV and in movies, absolutely ABHOR/HATE/DESPISE real-life drama. By that I don’t mean that I hate it when people in third world countries or hunger/poverty/whatever-stricken areas of the world use their brains to better their situation, including petitioning first world countries to help them.

What I hate are posts like this, this, and this (yes, the last one IS me on my other journal). I don’t like listening to people whine all the time. Whine whine whine whine. Sheesh. Get a life. The world is NOT as shitty as you think it is, and even if it IS as shitty as you think it is, it COULD be a fuckload worse. I understand that people need to vent, but really, you don’t need to give everyone you know a blow-by-blow.

What REALLY bothers me isn’t that people complain about their situations, it’s that they ONLY complain about their situations and do NOTHING else about them. Nate’s girlfriend-or-lack-thereof problem is a PERFECT example. You say the world is sucky/shitty/crappy/whatever? Well, then DO something about it to make it less so.
