Okay, so I said I would try to get some pictures of Antietam for Bobby… and I did! Some background: I’m taking a class called “The Civil War and Reconstruction” and went to Harper’s Ferry and Antietam National Parks on October 27. So, without further ado:

^^^ This is a street in Harper’s Ferry. The class went there to learn about John Brown and his failed insurrection.

^^^ This is a (different) street, also in Harper’s Ferry.

^^^ This is a rockin’ picture of an empty lot. That is, a house USED to be here, but obviously not in a long time. I really like the way the rocks have been cut out to make room for the (former) house.

^^^ This is part of Antietam battlefield. Up on the hill there is the visitor’s center. I’m pleased to say that there are WAY fewer monuments and etc. at Antietam as compared to Gettysburg. The Park Service is actually trying to prohibit (or at least hinder as much as they can) the additions of more monuments, since they want to keep the battlefield as much the way it was back then as they can.

^^^ This is a real, working, usable cannon in Antietam.

^^^ This is me getting ready to fire a cannon at Antietam as part of a learning excercise. I’m holding the lanyard and primel in my hands.

^^^ Now I’m putting the primel in the hole in the back of the cannon so that it will fire.

^^^ I’m about to pull the lanyard and fire! BOOM!
Okay, so that’s it for now. I wanted to get the photos up before I forgot and then it’s like a month later or something. Now off to dinner for me!

Yay! Thank you! ::glomps::
How was firing the cannon? I want to do that….
Those are so cool…its funny cuz Antietam was the battle i did for the Civil War report! And it took place on my birthday. (which i didnt even know until after i started researching.) so yeah that’s pretty cool that you went there!:)
