Bow to me, Augustus Caesar!

You scored as Augustus. You are Augustus! First emperor of the Romans and one of the greatest statesmen in the ancient world. You brilliantly eased the old Republic into the Principate and set the path for an empire that would last for centuries and form the underpinnings for all western civilization. Hail Caesar!

Photos that I MUST comment upon.

Okay, first one. This photo is of girls from my high school class. They will remain nameless, although some others from home will probably know them anyway. The FIRST thing I thought when I saw this was, “They all look the same–” and THEN I thought “–and they all look so stupid.” Not to mention they’re drinking. Bleh.

Second picture. Isn’t this just THE most awesome photo EVAR??? Of COURSE it is. It’s like a tabloid but not. Plus, Esther’s hot as usual.

Third and final photo. This is Josh, the same guy who is in the second picture. I barely know him at all, but I just love this picture. It’s such awesome photography; I can’t get over it. He looks just feminine enough to pass as a woman if he wanted, but he’s also got manliness in him, you know? It’s just a pic that’s sexually ambiguous, but in a freakin’ hot way.

Poem plagiarism, part 3
by V.E. on December 12th, 2005

The last part of this poem fiasco. I’m still VERY irritated about the whole thing, and the Dispatch isn’t going to print any of my poems, to boot. What losers. [Breathe, V, just take a breather.]

A reply to MY reply from the Dispatch this evening (11 December 2005):
Viannah,
Both you and Sarah were right in your definitions of “found poetry.” It can be a tricky form of writing. As the Editor of the Dispatch, I think that after such an odd coincidence and some turmoil that it’s probably best not to print the poem. I hope you understand my original questions, and I’m sorry that things came to such a head.
The Dispatch staff read through all of your other poems and decided that they were not right for the Dispatch right now. I think you should try submitting them to Prolog [F&M College's literary & arts magazine].
Thanks for everything,
Kathryn Bursick

Here’s a reply to MY reply from the so-called original poet of “All too soon” early this morning (11 December 2005):
Viannah,
Thank you for replying so quickly. I think the key phrases are “incidental use of language” and “not intended as a poem.” My words were obviously structured and had breaks, etc like poems do. Granted, if I was ever going to do anything with it beyond facebook, I would certainly edit significantly. But, it was a poem of sorts… I really don’t want to make this a large issue or become “childish”; I just felt it was something I should address as a writer. I’m sure you can understand my point-of-view. Because you do not know me personally, there was no way for YOU to know that I did give you the benefit of the doubt. It was only after considering it again (without the knowledge of a second poem with citation) and noticing the minimal changes to the original work that I altered my perspective. Also, I’m assuming your overly sarcastic reply was due to a misunderstanding of my own nature. It was not necessary.
Sarah Broderick
