WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK? I absolutely cannot believe this–if you are a medical professional, you should NEVER deny someone treatment–period. If you don’t think someone should have an abortion, or if you’re a homophobe, or if you think the Pill will turn young virgins into rampaging whores, then maybe YOU SHOULD FUCKING THINK TWICE BEFORE CHOOSING TO BE A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL. This is so much bullshit. And no, you’re not morally upright if you decide to let a patient go without treatment because they’re one of those filthy sinners. You are a hypocrite, pal. Plain and simple.

I’ve been following this closely. It makes me ill. This is the equivalent of a Blockbuster clerk refusing to rent a particular movie because (s)he finds it distasteful; the fact that we’re speaking about doctors makes it more silly, not less. I don’t think we have the right to go to work at a store and then not do what they ask of us; we certainly have the right to not work somewhere that will ask things of us we are not comfortable doing. I have the right to not work at one of those horrible “clinics” which provide “treatment” for homosexuality; but if I were to accept a job there and then refuse to do it, I would expect to be fired.

Heh. Let’s all get jobs at churches and then refuse to do anything that we feel is immoral…like, say, supporting missionary work, playing dodgy “tax exempt” games, practicing discriminatory and illegal hiring practices and preaching hatred and intolerance. Then, when they fire us, we can sue.
