SA & DA

As you can see here and here, while there are a few serious websites about compulsive shopping, much of what’s out there for us to consume (as it were) is positive and pro-consumer. Not that I’m anti-consumer, but I’ve recently come to realise and admit to myself that I have a serious spending problem and it’s racking up serious amounts of credit card debt that I really do not need. When I see something interesting to me–especially a book or piece of artwork–I feel like I need to buy it; if I don’t, it won’t be there for me to have later. If I do buy “it” (whatever “it” may be at any given time), I feel like I can read/watch/whatever it whenever I want to, so I never actually do read/watch/whatever it. Anyone who’s been in my room and seen all of my unopened DVDs (which I have more of than opened ones) will agree with me.
I have been looking into Shopaholics/Shoppers Anonymous (SA) and Debtors Anonymous (DA) since I really need help controlling my shopping binges. I gave up buying stuff online for Lent–so far so good, but keep your fingers crossed for me. It’s especially bad with the internet because I don’t even need to leave my room to max out my credit cards (which has never happened, thankfully… maxing out my cards, I mean). I like going to the mall, but I see so many cool things and I buy them. Thinking about it, I’ve had this problem for a while, since when I was little, I used to see stuff on TV and be like, “Mom, can I have that?” and of course she’d say no, almost across the board, because she knew I didn’t really want that, I just wanted something cool and interesting. Everyone does that when they’re little, I know, but I think with me it stuck and grew into an OCD thing.
ANYway, more on this later. I’ve got homework to do.

- Day may come back and see me again in late April!
- Attending ALL my classes today and, aside from homework, doing the rest of the crap I had to do.
- A friend might actually go to counseling after years of denying he needs it.
- The lock on my door, without which my stuff might be stolen.
- Green Delicious apples–the best EVAR.
I missed Chimera again.

Yay for liguistics: WordOrigins.org
and DAMNIT. I missed Chimera AGAIN. Fuckfuckfuck. (<– please excuse the language)… it’s just that I’ve missed it for like a MONTH now. I miss Torg and Flik and Cabin boy…. and of course Jeff, the all-knowing, all-seeing GM.
On the upside, I’m now CLEAN. ooooh, it’s so nice to be clean. I really should shower more often. But more than once about every day and a half seems like too much. Booo.
Gotta get back to the homework and other fun school stuff.
PS: Thanks for the hugs. Me = very appreciative.

- Being CLEAN!
- Buying five DVDs for less than $60 when they orginally cost around $125 (total).
- PA sales tax is only 6% (instead of 8.25%, like in Cali).
- Email and snail mail from people I care about; makes me feel loved.
- “That time of the month” is almost over! YAY.
Hugs all around!

Give me hugs… if you feel so inclined.
Also, I picked up Animatrix, Equilibrium, Sin City, Dark Crystal, and Memories for less than $60 today at Park City. If I had bought them all at full price, I’d have paid around $125. W00t. I roxors.
Now I’m going to take a shower and wash my hair. I’m dirty and I haven’t washed my hair in toooo long. And, it will help me feel better since Daylin left this morning and is now back in NYC. Boooo.
