4 June 2006

  1. Finished my homework.
  2. Alumni weekend is (finally) OVER.
  3. A shower curtain–and a pretty one, at that.
  4. New lamp (only $19.95 + tax & bulbs) that has 5 lamp thingies that can be moved around.
  5. I know #4 doesn’t really make sense, but if you saw the lamp, you’d know what I mean!

5 June 2006

  1. Breakfast! I got up early enough not to miss it.
  2. The creaky apartment floor. Reminds me of my Grandma.
  3. Getting my stuff from Nate’s house this afternoon or evening.
  4. Getting a phone line, DSL internet (both from Verizion), and DirecTV this afternoon (hopefully!)…
  5. … which will all be on the same bill. Having only one bill makes it soooo much easier.

Lioness in zoo kills man who invoked God
Mon Jun 5, 2006 08:31 AM ET

KIEV (Reuters) – A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal’s enclosure, a zoo official said on Monday.

“The man shouted ‘God will save me, if he exists’, lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions,” the official said.

“A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery.”

The incident, Sunday evening when the zoo was packed with visitors, was the first of its kind at the attraction. Lions and tigers are kept in an “animal island” protected by thick concrete blocks.

That’s not to say that invoking God is idiotic (it’s not), but COME ON. Climbing into an “animal island” is surely a REAL great idea in the first place, God or no.
