Facebook spinoff(s)

Okay, so apparently someone with enough know-how got enough fed-up with Facebook and has decided to create his own version, PhatCouch, which looks… almost exactly the same as Facebook and does… primarily the same thing(s) as Facebook except it has (as of this writing) less than 100 members TOTAL in the whole network.
Honestly, I’m at a loss as to whether this “new Facebook” is [1] actually worth it, [2] really THAT much different than any OTHER Facebook-esque site (ie: MySpace or Xanga), and [3] really necessary just because Facebook has “sold out” and let non-college students into its ranks, especially when it does the same thing (only from the start).
