Pay-per-Post: Smile Banking

Okay, so I’d never heard of online banking with Smile before reading about it online this morning. It’s an online bank based in the United Kingdom that prides itself in being “open, ethical and genuinely modern.” In fact, they’re so committed to The People that they’re even part of the Co-operative Movement and are part of the Co-operative Financial Services family. Smile voluntarily subscribes to the Banking Code and their pyramid (see left), where most/all of their services are housed, “gets all its electricity from gas generated by digested sewage from a plant in Bournemouth, rather than use finite natural resources.” Indeed, they have a(n easily misread, at first) Wealth Warning that warns that “Smile contains high levels of customer service”…

I don’t know if Smile is available in the United States (since it IS, after all, based in Britain), but it SHOULD be. If this bank is all that it says it is, it is a GODSEND for all the people (in the UK) who are sick and tired of traditional banks and their traditionally uncool bankers.
