  1. Picked up (free!) tickets to Dracula and the Barry Lopez talk next week.
  2. Esther gave me her fish! She’s been avoiding taking care of it for a while now…
  3. … and asked if I’d care for it over the break… and I said “Sure” and that…
  4. … I’ll take it off her hands completely, which she readily agreed to. She was happy to get it out of her hair. ^_^
  5. Dinner in d-hall with my lovely friends! I’ve missed d-hall dinners, bad food and all.

Pay-per-Post: VoIP

The Vonage Forums are independently owned and operated by 4Sight Media LLC and “is no way endorsed, sponsored, provided, owned or otherwise controlled by Vonage.” There are quite a few reasons VoIP (voice-over-internet-protocol) is a good idea, if you have broadband internet service (that is: DSL, cable, T1, etc). Without broadband, though, VoIP isn’t really worthwhile. Skype is the new craze, but the forums are specifically for Vonage (at least so far as I can tell), so there isn’t much info about anything other than Vonage. Indeed, “because VoIP telecommunication isn’t regulated the way traditional phone line telecommunication is, VoIP providers like Vonage can offer drastically lower calling rates.” Unfortunately, there is a catch. Like everything else internet-related, Vonage and VoIP bends to the will of the Internet; bad connections mean no calling, hiccups are expected, and quality is not guaranteed.

  1. The lecture Ben D. suggested (and with whom I attended) was well worth it. Kudos, Ben.
  2. National Coming Out Day is today! I’m coming out for everyone who is still afraid to, for whatever reason! Be strong, my brothers and sisters in gaiety!
  3. Writers House meeting this afternoon. Good conversation/planning and free food!
  4. Anime Club… got some work done, sort of.
  5. OMG I love peanut butter honey sandwiches!
