1. Coffee, tea, or other beverage? Water, root beer, and milk… and sometimes black tea with milk and sugar.

2. Are you an early bird or a night owl? Night owl, but I’m trying really hard to be more of an early bird.

3. Which do you prefer, pen or pencil? Eh, whatever… as long as it works and doesn’t dull easily, it’s fine with me.

4. Laptop or desktop? Desktop.

5. When you write do you print or use cursive? Cursive, unless I’m feeling patient.

6. Do you plan your menus or do you just wing it? Uh… usually I just wing it.

7. Favorite color? Violet.

8. Favorite form of exercise? Running… but only on a treadmill. I like it cause I can zone out and not worry about “where I’m going,” if you know what I mean.

9. How do you wear your hair most days? In a ponytail, though I frequently take it down to fix bumps, oddness, etc.

10. Which do you prefer, baking or cooking? Baking, hands down.

11. In the house are you barefoot, in slippers or in shoes? Barefoot.

12. Do you wash dishes by hand or have a dishwasher? By hand. Dishwashers are annoying, loud, and a waste of water.

13. Do you have pets? A collie/corgi mix named Sheridan and four cats: Mimi Sequi, In-Debt, Sassy, and Alex.

14. What do you eat for breakfast? Whatever’s easy.

15. Tell me one thing you love about your state. How people think it’s a “mystical land,” even though it’s really not… it’s just further away and more liberal than they’re use to.

Free Katana with Sprint plan renewal

Posted in ppp on February 28th, 2007 by V.E.

[In case you're wondering, this is a paid post.]

Did you know that you can get free Sprint upgrades even if you’re already a customer? Most companies have a deal that gives you free stuff when you sign up, but who knew that–when you renew your contract through Wirefly–you can get free stuff as an existing customer, too! For example, you can get a brand new Sanyo Katana (in “Mystic Black,” “Cherry Blossom Pink,” or “Blue Sapphire”) when you renew your contract. My favorite is the blue one (shown at left). Each Katana–normally around $280 each–is super-thin, sculpted, and very fashion forward and boasts Bluetooth wireless technology and a VGA-quality digital camera that lets you send Sprint PCS PictureMail.

With Fair & Flexible plans from Sprint, you “won’t pay penalizing overage anymore for going over [your] minutes, and [you] won’t pay too much for plans with hundreds of minutes [you] never use.” Plus, you get 450 “starting” minutes (with every 25 minutes after that $2.50), long distance, voicemail, caller ID, and unlimited night calling starting at 7 pm (instead of 9 pm, like most other carriers’ plans). “Unlimited night calling” means that you don’t use your minutes when you call after 7 pm. If you read the fine print, you’ll find that you have to buy (or renew) a two-year contract and must pay a $200 early termination fee if you decide it’s not for you. Tax is not included and the offer for a free Katana is for a limited time. When you renew/upgrade/buy through Wirefly, though, you get free 2-day shipping via FedEx.

If you’re in the market for a phone upgrade, consider buying a Sprint plan (or renewing the one you already have, if that’s the case) and get a free Katana while you’re at it! Buy through Wirefly and the deal only gets sweeter. Word of warning, though: don’t rush into something if you’re unsure about it and, for the love of Pete, make sure you read the fine print before signing on the dotted line.

254 #4: The refrigerator; Oh, how I love thee!

Posted in 5reasons on February 28th, 2007 by V.E.

Okay, so my fridge is usually on the bare side, but one thing it always has is water… which, as I’m sure everyone who knows me knows by now, I love. I like (drinking) cold water and (bathing in) hot water, and the refrigerator helps take care of the former. Plus, it keeps my otherwise fast-perishing foods (such as milk, cheese, and grapes) from perishing so fast so that I don’t feel like I HAVE to eat ALL the grapes RIGHT NOW… or whatever. In any case, I like my fridge. ^_^

Video conferencing: good for international work!

Posted in ppp on February 28th, 2007 by V.E.

[In case you're wondering, this is a paid post.]

Cisco Systems, Inc., is a worldwide company that provides businesses with video conferencing, secure networking, VoIP (“Voice over Internet Protocol“), wifi (“wireless fidelity“), and more. Since it’s a worldwide company and business happens across the globe, it seems reasonable to have video conferencing abilities so that a partner in England (while you’re in Los Angeles, for example) can still “attend” a meeting. One of their products, the Cisco Video Portal, “uses standard Web technologies to deliver live Webcasts and on-demand video to [a business's] audiences.” I’m okay with video conferencing in principle–perhaps it’s even a good thing because it forces everyone to realise that everyone else is a person, too. However, I’d lament having to wear business dress in my own hotel room just to look good for people on the other side of the world.

Day Two hundred fifty-four

  1. Dad’s birthday was yesterday, but I didn’t have enough space for it then. Happy (belated) birthday, Dad!
  2. Getting some (more) of my shit together; being on the right track is better than not.
  3. Somehow, this article just amuses me. Is that bad?
  4. The refrigerator; Oh, how I love thee!
  5. Laughing with Pedro.

Jsingles–dating for Jewish singles

Posted in ppp on February 27th, 2007 by V.E.

[In case you're wondering, this is a paid post.]

This Jewish singles site seems at first to be like every other dating site out there, but interestingly (and thankfully)… it’s not. For example, Jsingles.com has exclusive articles with topics ranging from “Jewish holidays and what they mean” to “plan[ning] your Jewish singles cruise“… the former would be interesting to someone who’s not Jewish but isn’t opposed to dating a Jewish guy or gal (if they struck the right chord with each other, if you know what I mean) but doesn’t want to make a fool of him or herself in front of the parents or whatever… like me! Check it out when you have time!

  1. OMG. I actually went to class today…
  2. … and actually worked while I was at work…
  3. and came home and cleaned up my (mostly paper) messes around the apartment…
  4. … and did not crash on my bed for five hours, even though I wanted to.
  5. Got a present for Pedro (Shhhh! Don’t tell! ^_^)
