Just Say “Hi!”

Have you ever wanted to just say “Hi” and not have to worry about your credit card being charged for a website that isn’t going to help you find a date anyway? Well, check out this online dating site, “JustSayHi.com”–where no credit card is ever required. There are some sections of the site that you won’t be able to use unless you invite three other people to the site by using an email form thingy, but those people do not have to join for you to get the privileges you want for inviting them. It is a little bit sneaky, to be fair, but I think the creators, Vanchau and Mike, just want to spread the word about this unique opportunity.
Vanchau’s theory is: “most dating sites don’t work. you are ‘unsatisfied’ in your experience. here, since you don’t pay, it’s a cool place to meet people, members here feel ‘satisfied’. this results in better moods and so it attracts more people. the cycle repeats. that’s why we keep growing.”
Slowpoke!

Read about Slowpoke! She’s finally sprouted. *deep breath* I was worried that I may’ve killed the poor plant without ever having seen her live!
256 #3: Slowpoke is growing! And I can tell she’s growing!

So, this is Slowpoke, one of my three plants. (The other two are Alex and Mika). These two photos were taken this evening from different angles. I’ve had Slowpoke for a loooooong time… since middle of last semester, I think… and she’s just now started to show herself. I suppose it didn’t help that I went home for break and she wasn’t watered for around a month, but I think plants (Alex and Mika, too) are more robust than we usually give them credit for.
I got Mika and Alex from Home Depot; they were both already growing and all I needed to do was transplant them and keep them both alive, but with Slowpoke (so named ’cause she’s taken this long to poke out of the dirt!), I received a bulb, a pot, some packed dirt, and potting instructions in the mail and had to make do with that alone. Let me tell you: growing a plant from the seed is hard! I mean, I never knew how much water or sunlight to give her since there were no ready indicators (like browning leaves or something) telling me what I was doing right and wrong. I’m relieved that Slowpoke has finally sprouted! I will hopefully be updating on her progress again soon.
