Happy Birthday to:

Bennett and Alison (both today)
Bobby (March 11)

Don’t forget that “spring forward” this year is March 11 (lucky you, Bobby)… So, move your clock an hour ahead this Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Spring break is coming…

…and I will be in Texas with my Grandma and without any computer or internet connection to speak of, sooo…. after tomorrow afternoon (Friday afternoon, March 9), I’ll be away until Saturday, March 17. In case I don’t update between now and the time I leave school….

No more hocking!

Remember the beginning of Requiem for a Dream, when the mother buys back the TV that her son had sold to the (same) guy (again) to get money to feed his drug habit? That’s hocking… something that even clean, well-meaning people do in times of need to survive until the next paycheck (when, presumably, they can buy their hocked item[s] back). Now that banks in England, Scotland, and Ireland are moving away from small loans (and toward larger business loans), it’s unrealistic to assume that you’ll be able to tide yourself over through a bank. That’s where payday loans UK companies enter the picture. Indeed, loans of up to £800 are available as soon as the next business day. You and your kids don’t need to go without food; now, you can just borrow a little cash to get you through the week without hocking your TV or stereo.

ReNu Recall = (Maybe) Time for Lasik

[In case you're wondering, this is a paid post.]

The recent ReNu Contact Lens Solution recall has created problems for some people (not to mention the company itself), even though no users of the product have reported adverse effects. I’m not really sure why some of the solution is being recalled (discoloration or ineffectiveness, maybe?), but if you’ve had Lasik (laser eye surgery), you don’t have to worry about it! …If you haven’t, maybe now’s the time to consider it.

The following lot numbers are subject to recall: GC6030 – GC6037 – GC6038 – GC6045 – GC6048 – GC6052 – GC6061 – GC6063 – GC6072 – GC6073 – GC6080 – GC6085 … … According to the company’s press release, “If consumers notice that their lens care solution appears to be discolored, they should discard it, as it may be losing effectiveness. The recalled lots all carry the expiration date “2008 – 03″ on the bottle. Consumers who have bottles from the lot numbers listed below should check [Bausch]’s web site at ReNu MultiPlus Recall or call the consumer affairs line (1-866-259-8255) to arrange for a [free] replacement.”

  4. Companies that send me (free) envelope address labels.

Ever wanted to go to Orlando, Florida?

Everyone knows that Orlando offers great Disney World packages, but did you know that the city actually boasts fifty-two (52) theme parks?? That’s right. You could go to a different theme park each week for a year and not visit any one of them twice! Plus, there are beaches and top-rated golf courses within a 40-minute drive. If you’ve never been–or even haven’t been recently–now’s the time to visit. An ever-changing city, Orlando has great resorts and vacation homes that cost less than many other destinations. Since Disney World is the city’s biggest draw (and rightly so!), most recreation activities in Orlando are family-friendly. And, in the competitive theme park atmosphere, attractions are being upgraded and added all the time, so it’s unlikely you’ll get bored any time soon! The city also has one of the largest convention centers in the world (claimed as the second largest, but I couldn’t verify that with any accuracy). If you’re planning a vacation any time in the near future, be sure to put Orlando on your list of serious possibilities.
