Yes, so I won a $50 gift certificate to DogStar Books (“Books for the Sirius reader”) for a poem I submitted to this year’s Holocaust Remembrance Program contest, “Responding to Genocide: A Contest for Students in Poetry, Prose and Visual Art,” here at F&M. My entry follows:
Looking out the front window of 6A
Small birds,
the ones that do not fly
south for the winter,
glide from tree to tree
accenting each skeleton
with their white
underbellies,
flashing in the cold
sun when they
recant and land
gracefully on
anorexic arms.

At Hayfield Dental Care (HDC), Charles Brown DDS PC has performed thousands of crown, root canal, and surgical procedures. HDC has served the residents of Alexandria, Virginia, and the surrounding areas since 1987 and has employed Dr. Brown for over ten years. Like the rest of HDC’s dentists, Dr. Brown received advanced training, and he and the other doctors can perform almost any procedure without referring patients elsewhere. Dr. Brown has a perfect record and a history of zero complaints from the Virginia Board of Dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association and is listed as one of the region’s top dentists by the Washington [DC] Area Consumer Council. Dr. Brown graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1996 and was the recipient of the Academic Achievement Award for being ranked first in his graduating class. In 1997, he received the Quality Care Award and Resident of the Year Award from UMMC.
Hayfield Dental Care’s doors are always open to new patients and emergencies. Their number is 703-971-2220.
