omg mai bro’z on TVzors. *cough* [that was painful]

Actually, my little brother is ON YOU TUBE. haha… singing. (He’s on the right-hand side against the wall in the grey shirt behind the Sprite bottle.) Which makes him even awesomer than normal. I liked this round so much that I searched for it online and have decided that I want to use it as a prayer before eating with my family. Now they just have to get on board.

WORDS
Round and round we go,
we hold each others’ hands and
weave ourselves in a circle.
The time has come,
the dance goes on.

The boys in the video sing “Our love is strong” for the fourth line, which also works.

EDIT 23:35 EDT, 21 May 2009 I’m deleting the links to these reports because I’m angry at… someone. No, it’s not you, Zekor.

… with one-third of my semester’s work. OMG I’m going to start laughing hysterically again if I don’t get control of myself fast. I give you..

Fight Club

Good movie, but it’s not the same after you’ve watched it the first time. (Same with Memento and The Usual Suspects, too, sadly.) Pity, that.

Ten down; zero to go.
‘Cept now it’s THESIS time.

Into the final stretch

I decided not to post again until I’d done two more, so here they are, now:

Angela’s Ashes
The Usual Suspects

I ended up reading the book first because I was tired of flipping through books to find quotations and wanted to get it overwith, but now I’ve only got ONE report left! HUZZAH. (The last seven are here.)

Nine down, baby! One to go. I can do this.
Last up is Fight Club.

HAH!

Finished with The Sun Also Rises, finally, and here’s the obligatory report. (Last six are here.) I chose Sun because it’s title is the basis for a Galactica episode and I wanted to read the novel to better understand that episode. I know: totally shallow, right? Whatever. It was a better book than A Portrait of the Artist, hands down.

Seven down; three to go. I need to finish these by Friday so I’ll have a little time for the thesis. Everything is due May 27th.

Next up is either The Usual Suspects or Angela’s Ashes, but I haven’t decided. At this point, I have two movies and one book left, so should I finish off with two movies in a row, or put the last book between them?

Irregular Roundup #5

hadtosay: a little note sender, sorta. Can be anonymous, but doesn’t have to be. Cute little video about it here.

Remix: the idea that fanfic writers get together and rewrite (“remix”) a fic of someone else’s. A neat idea, though I don’t have enough fanfiction to participate.

Pro Publica has a change-tracking feed for the White House website and has a page for how to create a change-tracking feed for any site you want. I kinda want to set one up for this website, and it would’ve been nice to have this kind of thing when I was still using LiveJournal just to see how many skins I went through. I had some decent setups, I have to say, but they’re all lost to the virtual wind. And I care about the past—and maybe that’s important for a site like the White House’s site—but honestly, I think some things (at least in my case) are better off just lost.

In case you’re a loser or old or something: Greg Rutter’s Definitive List of The 99 Things You Should Have Already Experienced On The Internet Unless You’re a Loser or Old or Something (in no particular order) including bonus nsfw links.

I’m not exactly sure what a writing crash test is, but it seems like something I should eventually check out… by which I mean, if I ever have time to burn and I randomly decide to go through these irregular roundup posts, I’ll maybe have a looksee… by which that like likely means never.

Bacon lollipops; I’m not even kidding. They look good, and some of the other kinds look good, too. Expensive, though, of course. T_T

KeepShooting.com, where you can get The Anarchist Cookbook, The Turner Diaries, “how to field strip” guides, lockpicks, and… you know… gun stuff.

Yeah, this doesn’t make me feel any better. And older people saying I have to just suck it up and do my time really isn’t helping, either. Only my parents are allowed to do that, not just some random person who thinks I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth.

If you like Death Note (and know anything about it), this will probably amuse you. Well, it amused me, anyway. ^_^

Tattoo dreams

by V.E. on May 17th, 2009

I had a dream about tattoos last night. I had done… something… or was a part of something, I don’t remember what, and I had two (or three?) friends with me in this area of town that looked like… well, it reminded me of Tokyo in the late Edo or early Meiji era (think Samurai Champloo or Himura Kenshin). The dirt street was lit by hanging lanterns and there was some kind of shrine temple down the way, a little. It was.. very Japanese in setting.

Anyway, we were deciding on tattoos. We’d made some kind of pact, or I’d won something (or lost something, I don’t really remember) and two of us—me and a girl who I kept thinking was octaveleap but who wasn’t actually her—were getting something on our backs. It was to be the same thing, so we had to agree. Somehow, we came up with the idea of a flute, in pieces, diagonally across our backs from the upper left shoulder to the lower right hip. At the end of the flute near the hip, there would be a heart. I have no idea why we decided on that, and I remember thinking, “Can’t we at least change it to a clarinet, so I can remember Angela?” And then, the flute pieces kept looking more and more like vertebrae and the discussion was getting way out of hand because the tattoo was morphing right before my eyes and I didn’t know if I wanted a morphing tattoo on my body.

And then someone mentioned that I couldn’t have that idea done on my back, anyway, because my entire upper back was already covered in an elaborate tattoo of a crown of flowers. And this whole time, we’re sitting there, out in the open on the street in the middle of festival season and people are walking by in yukata and holding pinwheels and little goldfish in plastic bags like it was some carnival and my friend and I were only getting airbrush or henna tattoos.

I remember thinking, “Why the feck are we hanging out in the Tokugawa period? I’ve never even been to Japan.” And people were oogling at the crown of flowers on my back, even though I’m 100% sure I was fully clothed the entire time. And before I was even fully awake, I was in front of the mirror checking for errant tattoos that I hadn’t consciously signed up for. No crown of flowers and no vertebrae flute.

Hey, I never said any of the dream actually made sense.
