Whew, I’ve got even more pictures for this episode of CANAAN.

Maria and the reporter try to get information from a maid cafe waitress.
The waitress doesn’t speak, but she has a bruise similar to the ones others have had up to this point. She meets with the reporter later in the episode, but still doesn’t speak. Meanwhile…

Members of Hebi work through some plans.
The not-secretary, in the back, is continually brushed off by the woman in the front, who is apparently also her sister. The not-secretary takes out her anger on the blonde guy, who just stands there and takes it. The Hebi organization is apparently totally cool with sadomasochism.

Canaan and Maria, right after being interrupted by the reporter.
Apparently, Canaan can find Maria no matter where she is, and she wants to go out and have fun. Like… a date, maybe? They should just kiss and get it overwith.
While Canaan and Maria are out eating parfaits, Maria remembers when she taught Canaan how to play cat’s cradle (which has been called by some “the universal symbol of peace”—a subtle hint from the anime’s creators?) and Canaan took Maria home to her house.

Maria’s memory, Canaan’s room full of weaponry.
Canaan shows Maria her tattoo and says it reminds her of someone special. Maria says, “Onee-san? (Sister?)” to which Canaan replies with an enthusiastic “Yes!” Which makes me wonder what the hell is going on here; the only other person with a tattoo like that is Alphard, leader of Hebi.

Well, that’s no good.
Back in the present, Maria and Canaan do some more sight-seeing until they’re attacked and Maria is captured by the young kid from the last episode, who had been hanging out with the old man before he died.

Yeah, that’s the kid. See the bruise on his hand?
The kid uses Maria as bait for Canaan, who doesn’t disappoint. We find out what the hell is with Canaan’s weird eyesight powers—it’s called synesthesia (a condition in which the inflicted can taste a color, see a sound, or feel a smell; the senses are screwy)—and that people with the bruise have special powers, too, though apparently none are the same. The kid, obviously, is super flexible, and the old man had two hearts. Do I see mutant registration in the near future?

Canaan, of course, shoots the kid and saves Maria (she thinks).
The kid tells Maria before Canaan arrives that he won’t hurt her and he’s just trying to prove a point. Maria tries to call out to Canaan, but Canaan shoots the kid and…

“I told you…”
…his point is proven. Maria sees the extent Canaan will go to just to save her, and Canaan looks down at her and says, “…the color of rejection.” She sees emotion with her strange eyes.
And this whole time, I’m sitting here like, “Wow, I really like Canaan’s pants.”
