30 Days of Truth 13

Day 13: Write a letter to the band or artist that has gotten you through some tough days.

Dear music,

I don’t have a favorite “band or artist” the way some people do. I know you can work your magic through bands on stage, artists in the recording studio, tone-deaf singers in the shower, and parents humming lullabies to their children. You are like your own language, culture, time period, and setting all rolled into one. Even speech has some of your elements; lyrical poems, braided essays, and poetic fiction may all roll off the tongue like magic when read aloud. You have the power to uplift and bring down. You, you know the heart of every person who has ever sung a single note or hummed a single tune. And you bring people together in your own way. There is beauty in everything you touch, even if sometimes we can’t yet see it.

Thank you,

I don’t think there’s anyone on this planet whose life hasn’t been changed and/or affected by the recent course of events,” said Nina Tassler, the president of CBS Entertainment. But, she argued, “nothing that is on the air is inappropriate.”

Really? Did you really just say that, person who is obviously not in touch with reality?? Not to harsh your mellow or anything, but I, for one, remain unaffected by “the recent course of events” and that’s not even bringing into consideration the majority of the world’s human population who don’t give one flying fuck about anything that happens in the United States, for good or ill. What a great use of hyperbole you have there; too bad it was unintentional.
