Poetry is what I write when I’m procrastinating

Poetry is what I write
when I’m procrastinating in writing
something else. It lures me in
with few words and glimpses
of vast expanses that I can only imagine.
Sometimes, when I can’t put plot
and character together, I can still write
poetry. When the words refuse,
there are still images, flashes of color
in twilight.
