All editing includes email correspondence. For works longer than 50,000 words, I will be happy to look at (and edit) up to 1,000 words for free. You’ll get to see my editing style, and I’ll be able to decide what kind of editing I can offer you that will best benefit your work. As a writer myself, I know that it’s important to keep the tone and quality of each work consistent with its author.
Manuscript critique (a succinct, overall opinion with a few suggestions) and/or sensitivity reading can be added to any of the below for an additional fee.
For academic papers, novel-length work (fiction or nonfiction), and epic poetry:
Developmental editing ($0.051/word) gives suggestions for your work that could change the storyline, characters, or language for your intended audience in order to give the piece a more coherent, internally cohesive flow.
Line editing ($0.057/word) to fix errors at the sentence level, rearrange ideas for a smoother flow, and check paragraphs and/or chapters for internal continuity.
Copyediting ($0.036/word) to fix grammar and punctuation errors, bring out your unique style, and make effective word choices.
Proofreading ($0.024/word) already edited work as a final double check before a piece is published.
For poetry (except epic poetry):
If you have a collection of poetry that you would like examined by another poet with an educated eye for detail and the big picture, my flat fee is $7.00 per page. Please note that there is a maximum of one poem per page.
